2025 New Year Update!

2025 Here we go again! Through out the year, Semmi is pushing it to attend as much fun with his friends as possible. Educational or physical, we try to do it all! To provide all the care needed for Semmi to continue to improve or at least maintain his condition puts a financial strain on the family. Some of the treatments are simply not within reach, even though they are strongly recommended for him by multiple doctors and professionals. For example, two weeks of intensive therapy is recommended 4 times a year.

We came to a conclusion not to undergo rhizotomy surgery as there are risks involved and there is no assurance of improving his quality of life. However, the last evaluation and checkup at Shriners Hospital revealed a potentially progressive misalignment of his hips requiring surgery in the next 6-12 months. Also, his posture and back muscles need continuous work. At Shriners Hospital we were blessed to spend a few days going through some therapy and learning about possible complications that can come based on Semmis leg issues. We stayed in Mc Donald House in Greenville and couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity. Most of the treatments require extensive travel and time off work, sometimes weeks. Semmi is smart and very socially inclined; he yearns for his peers’ company, but his disability stands in the way.

We’ve learned that Semmi’s hips are getting out of alignment and situation could become critical with his growth spurt in the future.

If you’d like to make a donation, it would help us with this journey. Every and any donation helps. Thank you for your support with helping Semmi have the best and fullest life possible.

After several weeks of disruption in the therapy process due to financial struggles, we could see a sharp decline in his abilities as his body elasticity deteriorated, resulting in pain, cramps, disrupted sleep, frustration, and sadness.

If we can provide Semmi with at least most of the recommended treatments, he may be able to avoid potential surgeries and worsening of his condition. This could help him advance in his ability to become a self-sufficient member of society. It’s a lifestyle of hard work and ongoing exercise for him; he just needs a lot of help, especially during his growing and developing years.

It was just in time of the early spring that our family situation allowed us to book the treatment again. We all celebrated our birthdays in April and couldn’t get better gift than making progress with Semmi’s legs.

The schedule was very similar to the last year, and we got very pleased that outer family members could clawing by and spend some time with us, uncle Admiral, grandma Sarka, aunt Helenka with uncle Mirek, and of course grandad Dedouch Breta (aka Deda na kolobrnde) with grandma Eva. ❤️

We as mom and dad even got couple days getaway as grandparents were having a blast with their grandson.
Semmi got again stronger and more resilient with every day pushing the limit and pain. We’ve learned that his Achilles tendon DO NEED a surgery ASAP as his grow spur occurred and exercise is not enough the keep his tendons flexible enough and so his spine and hips are at risk of deformation.
